Custom Fields lets you create your own contacts data fields in the Contacts Journal app. They allow you to extend the fixed set of fields you see in the "Contacts" app, so you can shape Contacts Journal to fit your own needs.
Here are some examples of the types of Custom Fields you can create:
- Account Number
- Sale Value
- Status
- Due Date
- Amount Due
- Age
- Spouse Name
Adding Custom Field Values
To add a field value, select a contact, and then open the Info tab (on iPhone) or Fields tab (on iPad and Mac), then select the + button.
Tip: you can also add Custom Fields when you are adding a new contact in the Contacts Journal app.
Create Custom Fields
Mac: from the Contacts Journal Preferences -> Manage Data -> Fields page, press the + button
There are different types of "Fields" you can create to store different types of values:
- Text
- Number
- Date
- Currency
- List
Use the List field type if you want to define a fixed number of values that the field can be in. For e.g. you can define a “Status” field, and add “Open”, “Active”, “Rejected”, “Closed” to the Field List. Now, you can attach one of these value to the Status field for any contact
You can set a Field as 'Favorite', so that it appears next to each contact, with the default value.
Add Field To Multiple Contacts
You can set the Custom Field as "Favorite" to have it appear against each contact, with the default value.
You can also add a Field to multiple contacts with a given value. This is great if you want to apply a field value to a whole group, or only some selected contacts.
