- The CloudSync option isn't enabled by default inside Contacts Journal. You have to enable it from Settings
- You should be signed in to the same iCloud account on all your devices
- If you want to share your Contacts Journal data with other users, you can read about our "Contacts Journal For Teams" plan
Setting up CloudSync
To enable the CloudSync sync option:
iOS: on More -> Sync Settings, select the “CloudSync” option
Mac: in Contacts Journal Preferences -> Sync -> press the "Sync Setting" button, and select "CloudSync".
If this is the first time you are syncing Contacts Journal to CloudSync, you should confirm the “First Time CloudSync Upload” alert. This will start uploading your data to iCloud. This can take a few minutes, depending on the size of your database.
After the intial sync is complete, enable CloudSync on the 2nd device's Contacts Journal app again, and confirm that you want to sync with the “Existing Data” alert. Please note: this will replace the local data on your 2nd device with data from iCloud.
Once both devices are setup with CloudSync sync, changes you make on one device will automatically sync over to the other device running Contacts Journal.
Note: if you had previously enabled CloudSync in the past, but now you want to upload your database from a different device, you can follow these instructions on how to reset your CloudSync database.
Other Sync Options
- Dropbox: stores your data on your own Dropbox account. To sync using Dropbox, you have to use "Save to Dropbox" from one device, and "Fetch from Dropbox" on the 2nd device. This is a little manual, but works well in case you cannot use your iCloud account. Learn more about how to setup Dropbox syncing
- iCloud (legacy): this option is only if you want to connect to the old iCloud syncing container. We strongly encourage users to switch to the new CloudSync option, which is much more reliable and faster to sync. This will be discontinued in the future.
